everytime i travel, i make it a point to check out shops, or streets where i can find baking supplies… be it ingredients, moulds or packaging materials… and every time i go to Tokyo (probably been there 20x now?), i make it a point to travel out to Kappabashi, the kitchen street where professionals head to…

Tsukiji is nice, but too touristic and expensive ya? so next time when you are in Tokyo, do check Kappabashi out… i’d introduced a few friends there and all of them agreed it is an awesome street ♡´・ᴗ・`♡… in this post, i’m just gonna show you some of my favourite shops ლ(|||⌒εー|||)ლ

NA201312241446570026-11-094000000from wherever you are, you need to take the Ginza line (or orange line) headed for Asakusa (which is the last station). Drop off at Tawaramachi, just a stop before Asakusa

NA201312241448510069-11-094000000unless you are coming from Asakusa side, once you alight from train, walk towards your right and exit from Exit 3

NA201312241449120027-11-094000000ok.. my photography suck… ꒰˘̩̩̩⌣˘̩̩̩๑꒱♡ but once you exit from exit 3 (as you walk a flight of stairs up), make an immediate u-turn (i.e. walk backwards). then make a right turn and walk down the street (without crossing the road)

NA201312241451430024-11-094000000after walking about 150m (or maybe 200) you will walk pass a very local supermarket.. if you have time, do pop in and take a look… things are very reasonably priced there

NA201312261629000067-52-088000000walk one more block down and you will come to a big junction. directly opposite you will see a big Chef’s head hung on top of the above shop (ni-i-mi)… you will find yourself at the beginning of the kitchen street. ni-i-mi sells many baking and kitchen supplies, and i replaced my kitchen’s chopsticks straightaway when i saw these going on sale! (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

NA201312241500460006-12-094000000this shop is pretty new… when i visited in november, they were just opening… they sell very nice festive cupcake/muffin/loaf pan liners…. i’m keen to see what they will be selling during valentine’s day

NA201312261828510094-52-088000000just a couple of shops from 伊腾景is a shop specially selling all sorts of knives and also a good range of cookie cutters
… i love japanese knives… really awesome…  (≚ᄌ≚)ℒℴѵℯ❤

NA201312261829300092-52-088000000if you are into japanese cutlery and utensils, this is the shop for you… also in here, you will find lots of bento boxes.. not the kawaii kind,… but the traditional and serious looking ones. you need to look carefully though as sometimes they sell it by the lot

NA201312241510060025-12-094000000 NA201312241605200080-12-094000000some other interesting shops before i get to my next favourite shop… of course, do remember that Japan’s appliances run on 100V, so please ensure you have a step down transformer before you use them…

NA201312261830390000-52-088000000along the same street as ni-i-mi is also the above shop… they sell a wide range of kitchen supplies from wax paper, to mugs, baking supplies, pots, pans, bento stuff etc… check out the bottom left “scrub”…. i got one of those in yellow… basically, you pour dishwashing detergent inside, and then press and scrub your utensils when you wash them…. but my maid as a different use for it… she poured vegetable/fruit cleaner in it, and used it to scrub my apples…. ʚ♡⃛ɞ(ू•ᴗ•ू❁)… oh well, forgiven

NA201312261626230097-52-088000000further down the same street you will find a colourful shop selling plastic mimics of food display…. they even have it in miniature keychains

by the time you have visited the above shop, you may have already spent an hour plus at kappabashi and not even half way done… by then, i will usually cross the road and make my way back (unless you have a luggage where you are dragging your loots)

NA201312241608040074-12-094000000this shop sells lots of colourful bakeware, liners and mochi moulds… the mochi moulds are not cheap though i have to say

NA201312261627270050-52-088000000you must take time to visit this shop… there’s lots of treasure in them… and have lots of “stamps” (you know, those that you use a torch to burn it and make an impression on bread)… you need to take time and bend down to run through everything they offer though..

these are all the pictures i have though.. not a winner at it because i somehow feel i’m being watched by the shop owners everytime i snap so i had to be really discreet (as you can see from all the angular shots)… (ˆˇˆ)-c<˘ˑ˘)

Do take sometime to visit Kappabashi if you are next in Tokyo … am sure you can find something for yourself (♥ó㉨ò)ノ♡
