… and i continue with my “fascination” of the God of Fortune (财神爷)
Ingredients
Pizza dough
3/4 cup warm water
1 tsp of active dry yeast
1 1/4 cup bread flour
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
Pizza ingredients as desired (i used shredded mozzarella cheese, salami and parsley flakes
Directions
– place water inside mixer bowl and sprinkle yeast on it. allow it to sit for 5 mins until the yeast has dissolved
– add in rest of the ingredients and knead till dough is smooth and elastic (probably around 8-10mins)
– coat dough with a light coat of olive oil and allow to rise in a warm place till it doubles in size
– punch dough down and divide into a 100g (for head) and 200g portion (body). the rest of the dough will be used to accessorise the pizza. rest dough for 15 mins
take the 200g dough and punch it down lightly. you can choose to use your fingers to spread the dough, but i prefer to use my knuckles ^^
body: the dough should be an 8-inches wide disc (crust is 1 inch wide, base being 6 inches)
head: shape the 100g dough into a ball then flatten it lightly into an oval shape. then use extra dough, roll it out into a semi circle, and place it on the head (this will be the hat). pinch a small amount of dough and place it in the middle of the face (this will be the nose). you can choose how large a nose you want (❁´▽`❁)*✲゚* i like it big and comical
moustache: roll out more dough and use a leaf cutter to cut out 2 leaves. attach just below the nose
beard: pinch some more dough, roll it flat, and use a dough cutter to make long impressions on it
hat flaps: cut out 2 long triangles from the extra dough and attach to each side of the hat.
hands: shape 2 hands with the remaining dough and make 4 slits with a scissors (these will be the fingers). i had a little bit of additional dough and placed a strip on the hat, and made small snips on it
at this point, cover the completed pizza dough with a lightly greased cling wrap and allow to rise for 30 mins. meantime, preheat oven to 220 degrees C
just before baking, brush a thin layer of olive oil on the pizza base (only) and spread with tomato sauce
spread with cheese and filling
lastly, pipe eyes and mouth with melted chocolate (⁎⚈᷀᷁ᴗ⚈᷀᷁⁎)
– bake pizza for 15 mins (or till your crust is browned and cheese is golden in colour)
and there you go… a simple homemade pizza is born (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
