Recipe adapted from Domestic Goddess Wannabe

Ingredients/食材 (makes 12 buns)

IMG_66621 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water
1/3 cup oil
2 tablespoons (about 16g) active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 egg
3 1/2 cup (or about 476g) bread flour (seems to work better but all purpose flour will also work)

Directions/做法

IMG_6665– Heat oven to 220C

– In your mixer bowl combine the water, oil, yeast and sugar and allow it to rest for 15 minutes. Using your dough hook, mix in the salt, egg and flour

–  Knead with hook until will incorporated and dough is soft and smooth. (Just a few minutes) The dough will be a little sticky. I oiled my hands, knead it one to two times, and it became really easy to shape. If your dough is too wet, add a little more flour and knead a few times

– Form dough into 12 balls and then place in a greased 9 x 13 pan and allow to rest for 10 minutes. Glaze with egg wash. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown

Personal notes/

IMG_6666– i used organic coconut oil and trehalose for this recipe

– nothing better to do like me? take a piece of parchment paper and make some cut outs (or names to personalise the buns) … then place it on top of the bread, brush egg wash over it carefully, and sift bread flour to finish off before baking

Hi Victoria, this looks like a easy recipe to try for a beginner like me. Can I use a breadmaker to make the dough? If yes, how to do I do it? Thanks so much for sharing!

    Audrey

    • Hi Audrey, yes you can. please place your ingredients into your BM (in the order) per its instructions (do watch the capacity of your BM and ensure it can handle the above portion). allow it to knead thoroughly.

once totally kneaded, just remove from BM, and shape into balls. rest for 10 mins, and then bake in oven. if baking in your BM, you can only place one layer of dough (balls), bake it, remove then bake another batch of buns

if your question is if this can be baked as a loaf in a BM, i haven\’t tried it, and haven\’t seen anyone trying this yet. but i will think it should work, though i can\’t guarantee. do note that some recipes that\’s meant for the oven, had shown to yield a collapsed centre if baked in BM even though the internal is cooked and texture still taste great (just that the appearance is not attractive)

      hope this helps
