    Hi Victoria,

I hear what you said!!! With slightly more than half the amount of gula Melaka, it is still so good!!! With the full amount, it must be super powerful 😀

  • Rita Tan (August 18, 2015)

Hi thanks for sharing recipe of Gula Melaka Butter Cake. Can I subsitute coconut milk with any other liquid. Is soy bean milk ok? And what is coconut flower sugar?

    • Victoria Bakes (August 18, 2015)

Hi Rita, i do not encourage as it will affect the taste. Further, coconut milk e.g. ayam brand in this instance has a different consistency from beverage like soy milk. I do not think it will be too big a deal if you absolutely want to make a substitution, though i will say, please don\’t. The cake in this flavour is a winner.

Pls refer to this link about coconut flower sugar http://coconutflowersugar.org/what-is-carazuc/

      Thanks for coming by

  • Estella (August 19, 2015)

    Hi Victoria,

This recipe looks delicious!! Would like to try it but I do not have coconut cream powder in my pantry. Is there any thing I can substitute it with?

    Thanks!

    • Victoria Bakes (August 19, 2015)

Hi Estella, i will say there isn\’t a true substitute for coconut cream powder due to its richness. you can use milk powder instead but that will alter the taste all together

Hi! Great recipe, can I know if I can substitute coconut milk with liquid coconut cream?
    Thanks!

    • Victoria Bakes (March 4, 2016)

Hi, yes, as long as it is not too thick. You want it to be similar consistency as coconut milk

  • Jennifer (May 5, 2016)
