1 large potato
12 prawns
salt & pepper, as appropriate
cake/all purpose flour, as appropriate
1 egg
homemade bread crumb, as appropriate
desiccated coconut, as appropriate (optional)

土豆 一大颗
海虾 12只
盐、胡椒粉,适量
蛋糕粉/多用途面粉,适量
鸡蛋 一颗
自制面包糠,适量
干椰丝,适量(可免)

Directions/做法

IMG_1277cut potato into big slices and bring to boil till they are soft
土豆切大片,水煮至软

IMG_1278shell and devein prawns
虾子去壳儿、去虾线

IMG_1280keep the tail of the prawns
虾尾完整切下

IMG_1281chop prawns so that it becomes prawn paste
虾子剁成虾泥

IMG_1282throw it a few times into mixer bowl so that it becomes “gluey”
(english readers who understand chinese, please educate me ~
what’s the best word to describe 起胶” ?)
虾泥往容器抛数下、让其起胶

IMG_1284mash boiled potato
煮熟的土豆压成泥

IMG_1285then add in prawn paste
加入虾泥

IMG_1286add in salt and pepper and mix everything together
适量加入盐和胡椒粉调味儿、拌匀

IMG_1287divide paste into 12 equal portions
准备好的土豆虾泥分割成 12等份

IMG_1288coat prawn balls with a light coat of flour
轻轻裹上面粉

IMG_1290then coat with egg
裹上蛋液

IMG_1289mix bread crumb and desiccated coconut together
面包糠和干椰丝混合均匀

IMG_1291roll egg-coated prawn ball into bread crumb/desiccated coconut
* then insert prawn tail into the ball
裹上蛋液的虾球裹上面包糠和椰丝
*然后将虾尾插入虾球中

IMG_1293bring oil to a soft boil
it cannot be too hot
将锅中的油加热
油温不可以太猛

IMG_1295fry prawn balls using low heat till golden brown
加入虾球,以小火炸制金黄色

IMG_1297drain prawn balls on kitchen towel
放倒厨纸上沥干油份

    I didnt see the prawn tails when you are deep frying them. May I know when to stick them to the prawn balls. Thanks.

      Hi Elena, thanks for picking that out! i have edited the instruction to include the insertion of prawn tail. it will happen just before frying, i.e. after coating with bread crumb and desiccated coconut
